Education Before Qualification
Qualification is an important milestone but it is only one stage in becoming an exceptional teacher.
We believe teachers are developed, not simply qualified.
We prioritise deep understanding, practical competence over simply completing a syllabus.
Teacher training is the beginning of a professional journey, not the end of one.
When you join The Pilates Education Collective, you become part of a community committed to excellence, curiosity and lifelong learning.
Our Ethos
To honour Contrology and advance the education of Pilates teachers, through in-depth training, Apprenticeships and lifelong professional development.
We honour the legacy of Joseph and Clara Pilates. We also recognise the remarkable educators who have preserved, expanded and shared their work across generations.
Our Educational Philosophy
We believe exceptional Pilates teachers are developed through disciplined self practice, creative thinking, open minds, mentorship and a commitment to continual learning.
Our responsibility isn't to create teachers who simply know the exercises. It's to develop professionals who understand why they teach them.
Our 3 Pillars
CONTROLOGY
Respect the method with integrity.
OPEN CONVERSATION
Creating a culture where curiosity is encouraged, questions are welcomed and learning never stops.
CREATIVE THINKING
Using the full repertoire to create meaningful solutions for every individual.
Why We Use the Term Contrology
Joseph Pilates called his method Contrology.
The term Classical Pilates emerged later to distinguish one tradition of teaching from others. While we recognise its place within the profession, we believe the original principles of Contrology remain at the heart of the work.
Our programmes honour the legacy of Joseph and Clara Pilates, while recognising the many teachers and lineages who have preserved, interpreted and expanded their work over the decades.
